The Journey Behind the Work
Nidarshana Gowani has worked across business, philanthropy, fashion and entertainment, while also building a public identity around causes that are close to her. As Managing Director of Real Estate and Power Generation at Kamala Group of Industries, she has spent more than a decade working within the family business and developing her understanding of the industry from the ground up. Her entrepreneurial interests have also taken her into Indian fashion and craftsmanship through Vanvas and into entertainment through Multiverse Entertainment. Alongside these ventures, her association with the Kamala Ankibai Ghamandiram Gowani Trust has brought another dimension to her work, with initiatives involving education, healthcare, women's empowerment, community welfare and social inclusion. Her story is therefore not only about the businesses she has been part of, but also about the people, ideas and responsibilities that have shaped her along the way.
About
More Than a Biography
There is a professional side to Nidarshana Gowani that can be seen through her businesses, ventures, and public work. There is also a personal journey behind it, shaped by family, education, marriage, responsibility, and the experience of entering a business environment that she had to learn from within.
Before the Titles
A Childhood Shaped by Education and Public Service
Nidarshana grew up in a family where professional life and public responsibility were closely connected.
Her parents were professionally accomplished, and education was an important part of her upbringing. Her mother also went on to establish a school, giving Nidarshana an early understanding of what it meant to create something that could serve other people.
The family environment exposed her to both professional ambition and social responsibility from an early age. These experiences later became important influences in the way she approached business and philanthropy.

Marriage and a New Chapter
From Indore to Mumbai
Marriage brought a significant change in Nidarshana's life. She moved to Mumbai and became part of the Gowani family, whose business and social work had already established a strong presence.
The transition was not simply geographical. It meant entering a completely new environment and learning how to find her own place within a business family. Rather than assuming a position because of her family association, Nidarshana chose to learn the business itself. That decision became one of the defining parts of her professional journey.

Learning the Business From the Ground Up
Earning Her Place
When Nidarshana first became involved with the family business, she was introduced to the practical workings of the organisation. She learned about accounts, purchasing, sales, materials and the everyday decisions that keep a business running, instead of remaining removed from the operational side.
Real estate, in particular, became an important part of this learning process, including working through the development of projects from their early stages through completion. Over time, this practical experience became the foundation for her role as Managing Director of Real Estate and Power Generation at Kamala Group of Industries.
For Nidarshana, leadership was not something that arrived with a designation. It developed through experience, responsibility and the willingness to learn.

Leadership
Building Confidence Through Experience
Working in a traditionally male-dominated business environment presented its own challenges. Nidarshana has spoken about the importance of learning the business before expecting a position within it, understanding the details, taking responsibility and gradually building credibility through the work itself.
Her experience in business also shaped her perspective on women and leadership: the importance of women recognising their own capabilities, rather than viewing empowerment only as something that must be given to them by others. This belief later became an important part of her work with women through the Kamala Power Women platform.

Beyond Business
A Wider Understanding of Responsibility
Business was only one part of the environment Nidarshana entered after marriage. The Gowani family had a history of supporting educational institutions, temples, charitable initiatives and community projects.
Over time, Nidarshana developed her own approach to social work, with greater attention towards initiatives involving people and communities in need of direct support. Healthcare, women's empowerment, education, inclusion and community welfare became important areas of her work through the Kamala Ankibai Ghamandiram Gowani Trust.

Her Entrepreneurial Journey
Creating Spaces Beyond the Family Business
Nidarshana's work has also extended beyond the Kamala Group. Through Vanvas, she has explored Indian clothing and craftsmanship, bringing traditional textiles and techniques into a contemporary fashion setting.
Through Multiverse Entertainment, she has worked towards creating opportunities for talent and stories that may not always receive attention in mainstream entertainment. These ventures represent different interests, but they share a common thread in her journey: creating platforms for people, ideas and Indian stories.

The Values Behind the Work
What Has Remained Constant
Across business, philanthropy and entrepreneurship, Nidarshana's work has been influenced by a few recurring ideas: responsibility, independence, learning and respect for people.
Her understanding of success is not limited to professional achievement. She has often spoken about the importance of family, relationships and remaining grounded while taking on greater responsibility.
Family and Legacy
The Foundations Behind the Journey
Her upbringing introduced her to education and public service, while her marriage brought her into a family with a long association with business and philanthropy. Her grandfather's legacy and the family's connection with social work have also influenced her understanding of responsibility.
The family's work across educational institutions, temples and community initiatives became part of the environment in which she later developed her own philanthropic interests. Her husband, Ramesh Gowani, has also been part of her professional journey and has supported her work across business and philanthropy.
For Nidarshana, legacy is not only about what is built or inherited. It is also about the values that continue through generations.

Leadership
Leading Where Others Didn't
Breaking barriersis not the goal.Building what comes next is.
Real estate and power generation have long been industries where women rarely reach the top. Nidarshana Gowani has spent over a decade proving otherwise, rising to Managing Director of Kamala Group of Industries and earning recognition as one of India's leading businesswomen.
Her leadership is not defined by the barrier she crossed, but by what she built once she was through it: a diversified business, a philanthropic platform reaching thousands, and a public voice for women stepping into spaces they were once told were not theirs.

Real estate became a particularly significant part of this journey, giving her an opportunity to understand the business beyond the boardroom and develop a practical approach to leadership. Vanvas
Fashion · Craftsmanship · Founder
Nidarshana Gowani founded Vanvas as a clothing venture rooted in Indian craftsmanship. Her interest in fashion is closely connected with the people and techniques behind the clothing; traditional textiles, handwork, and Indian craftsmanship form an important part of the brand's identity. Her appearances at the Cannes Film Festival have provided an international platform for this interest, beginning with a handwoven Banarasi saree in 2023 and continuing to feature Indian textiles, embroidery, and jewellery. For Nidarshana, fashion becomes a way of carrying Indian craft forward while allowing it to exist naturally within contemporary spaces.

Multiverse Entertainment
Entertainment · Talent · Founder
Nidarshana Gowani founded Multiverse Entertainment with an interest in talent, storytelling, and the people who often remain behind the visible face of entertainment. The idea extends beyond simply putting performers in front of an audience: Multiverse has explored stories of people whose work, journeys, and experiences deserve to be seen and heard. One of its storytelling ideas, "Meri Kahani, Meri Zubani," focuses on allowing individuals to share their own journeys in their own words. Multiverse has also hosted inclusive events, including a special screening of Tanvi The Great for underprivileged and autistic children.
